My second participation in a crowd-sourced engineering challenge hold by LocalMotors.com, in february 2018.
USMC seeking for a new vehicle fitting in the V-22 Osprey Aircraft.
I decided to experiment with a concept a had in mind for a while: an electric powered vehicle with "legs"!
The aim is to tackle uneven terrains while (auto-)correcting the pitch and roll, or banking at high speed. The concept also features in-place 360° rotation.
Made my way through all the technical requirements, but my design was eventually accepted in the competition phase.
The physics driven simulation offers to test-proof this odd concept of mines, aside conventional military off-roaders that share the same base code, filled with realistic datas.
Trying to tame that doggy thing was a real challenge, but full of hilarious moments!
ModLog test: physics driven "legged" vehicle simulation.
